For those of us who have the Beta 12 installed, can you let us know if there are any differences between the release and beta 12.  Thanks for the hard work.

The release 1.03 has a firmware date of 8/17/09, what's the release date of the beta firmware?

I'm seeing the same thing. Only difference is, the old .zip file had the firmware labeled beta in it, the new one doesn't say beta anymore. But yes, they do have the same date on them, and they are exactly the same byte size.

Hey ECF, can you clarify this for us before we install something that is the same as we already have installed please.  ;) ;)

Build 12 of Beta is the same as 1.03 official.

So, if we have build 12 installed, we don't need to install the final version, nothing changed?

Thanks for the quick answer DLM, that saved me some extra work.  :D

Well, it's not much work, I just pointed at it and flashed the box.

OTOH, why bother if there's no need...

I usually reset the box to factory defaults after a flash, then re-enter the setup. I think that's standard with anything that can be flashed, motherboards all say to reset to factory defaults too. That's where the work comes in, not a real ton of work or anything, just extra time when we don't need to do it.  :)

I did that for the latest beta, but I confess I didn't do it for the release.  Based on previous statements here, I figured there was little or no change in the firmware.

However, in general, you are certainly correct, resetting to factory defaults is never a bad idea for a firmware upgrade.  :)

Does this firmware finally fix the issue of Permissions for Anonymous/All?
I don't see it on the Release Notes, but I thought I read that it was in some of the Beta builds for this release.

I suspect not since the last beta (which is the same code) did not fix it.

Yes, it does tend to let the firmware do it's job, especially if you leave the box up 24/7 like I do.

Thanks for validating gunrunnerjohn, always good to know that I didn't miss something along the way.  ;)  ;)  :D

You have to have a Rev. C hardware to use this feature I believe.

Thank for the info.  I just got my box from NewEgg and it's Rev A2.  Nothing like old hardware being sold.
The power on feature is one of the key items which drove me to purchase this box.  I guess a larger UPS is not called for.  Too bad the firmware 1.03 didn't have notes for what is or isn't available based on your hardware version.  This really ticks me off, maybe enough to return the unit but I'll sleep on it.
