Well… Not sure If I like what I see so far. While disconnects are went away, range still isn’t very good. 15 ft away through 2 walls (just outside of the house) shows all bars but said "no internet connection" if trying to go online. And I agree that 5G seems to be working better in some cases than 2.4G, but... still weak.
Now – about the stick –
1. Installation. I had tried it with my old MSI with Win 7 and new HP i7 with Win8. MSI installed it well and got all connected and sort of happy. Win 8 was a mess – while after some delays and doing something for a while installation was completed, but told me that cannot run management routine and I need to run it myself. It worked after I manually got it connected, but didn’t like to detect the stick after I reboot the system. Going to device manager showed yellow exclamation mark near stick’s name. Enabling/disableling didn’t make any difference. Had to uninstall it and install it again. Worked again….
2. Now – the speed… haven’t seen wireless speed reported anything higher than 173 for HP i7 and 144 on older MSI.
3. Transferring rate (tested transferring single 2.443G ISO file to/from my Synology server connected via 1G network ) – all in MB/s:
868L-stick (5G) 868L-stick (2.4G) 868L-Build-in N adapter (2.4G)
MSI-to-server 10.4 7.8 5.52
Server-to-MSI 8 10.2 7.18
HPi7-to-server 11..15 10.6 6.65
Server-to-HPi7 13.1..12.3 12.3 8.02
Let me know what you think.
More specifically, I'm curious how large file transfers (up and down) behave on the 5GHz AC/N bands using the DWA-182.
