D-Link, this product needs some love!
« on: February 08, 2010, 10:24:44 AM »

I know this product hasn't been out very long, but it seems like it isn't receiving the attention it deserves from D-Link. When I look at the other router boards, there is much more feedback regarding the issues people are having. Here are some issues/suggestions here that haven't been acknowledged yet by D-Link:

Suggestions

D-Link, please stand behind this product just as well as you support your others.

It also does like running for long periods, mine is on 24/7 and I have found you have to re-boot it to clear everything  >:(

Hi,

we regret to inform that the product DIR-685 was withdrawn from production. This means it is unlikely you will get the firmware that will bring new functionality. No comment - EOL

ad 2 / fan should dynamically adjust its speed depending on temperature. In our tested unit when the unit is cool the fan is switched off completely Hmm - they using SSD probably

ad 3 / device has a limited number of connections, it means pulling a few links via Bit Torrent may be problems with access via SMB - (SAMBA) - Epic fail

ad 4 / ask for a more accurate description, if it happens every now and then, in certain situations?

ad 5 / unfortunately, for reasons beyond our control service Frame Channel has been suspended (external provider) - No future 4 us

Regards,

Hello! Do something already known on the new firmware u for Dir-685?,
ie: if at all will be or when and how to solve errors.

Excess of that recently because in April I bought your product,
with family, Platinum,''which was to offer a range of services and it is not,
Let me mention:

1st You changed in firmware new date format on the LCD 24 to 12, I am,
We are in Europe and probably rather use the 24h format.

2nd Mega loud cooling fan that can not be excluded from the menu.

3rd U.S. freezes Bit Torrent client link after entering 4 - Communication Server (router) not responding

4th Suspending the FTP server.

5th Disabling Frame It and Frame Channel.

That's probably enough: (

I also question whether the new firmware will be provided the options and whether you as a business plan,
launch a similar service as Frame Channel or browse add RSS functions locally by the firmware.

So far, these features result in a substantial derogation from the contract that provides state
support and trouble-free device works in a / g consumer law.

Please do not receive this notification as manifestations of aggression, etc. .., just ask me about understanding the problem,
all users of the DIR-658 and their level of frustration.

Please, answer and transfer the problem to support classes in the U.S. departments or TW
or contact us directly to the department of software development to further escalation.

Thanks in advance and best regards.
                                                                                                     slightly disappointed customer.

This method has stopped the fan, it's not really a 'Real' issue cause the Router processor is over heating due to the HDD creating more heat. Placing the HDD externally works like a charm.. unless you live in a very humid place.....

Try limiting the connection that BT is using? Really need max connections?
