Exploring Large-Scale Pastel Artworks
« on: August 23, 2025, 01:24:19 PM »

Hello everyone.

I’m exploring techniques for producing large-format pastel artworks and want advice from experienced artists. Managing blending and layering on big surfaces seems tricky, and I’m unsure which papers or supports work best for durability and texture.

I found some inspiring examples at https://www.pastelbrush.com/en/tags/large-size/ that really showcase scale and detail, but I’d love to hear practical tips. How do you maintain consistent color vibrancy? Are there preferred tools, pastels, or fixatives for large pieces?

Any advice on workflow, spacing, or framing would be incredibly helpful.
