suddenly can't connect to router
« on: July 22, 2021, 06:41:41 PM »

Hi. I have the DIR-850L router, I'm on hardware version: A1, and firmware version: 1.05 Wed 10 Apr 2013

Today, the internet just stopped working. None of my devices could connect to it. I have no idea why. There is no internet outage, the modem connects to it fine, and the router light is even lit up green.

I tried restoring a settings config.bin but now I can't even log into the settings because it says the password is wrong. I tried the password underneath the router, and it says that one's wrong too. So now I don't know what to do.

The only reason I'm even able to access the internet to post this is because it inexplicably works on one of my pc's as long as I'm in the 'setup' mode of the router, but as soon as I complete the setup, everything disconnects.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Try a factory reset by pressing the reset button for 10 seconds then release?

Thank you so much for responding so quickly.

I did try that. Unfortunately, it's the same result. As long as I'm in setup, I can access the internet only on that machine. As soon as I complete the setup, it all goes away again.

EDIT: As inexplicably as everything stopped working, everything seems to be connected now. It's still telling me my password to access the router settings is wrong, but  I guess I'll take it for now.

Well, the 850L is EOL and yours is probably starting to become problematic. I recommend you consider getting into something new. D-Link DIR-L1900 or DIR-LX1870 should be reviewed. I have the LX1870 and is a good model.

Good Luck.
