upgraded my (3) 2202's to v1.05 a week ago. seemed stable up until last night. was using an Amazon Fire Stick in the media room and it was not good. this room unfortunately is probably 30 feet away, with 2 walls, from the nearest AP so is only really good for 2.4Ghz connections with the signal usually in the mid -70's. In the past this hasn't been an issue, averaging 35 Mbps which is plenty for 1080P HD streaming. But now the Fire Stick kept stuttering and saying it was buffering and then losing the Internet connection. What's interesting is it wasn't saying it was loosing Wi-Fi, just Internet. The Wi-Fi connection appeared to be steady. Guess I should install some network utility on the stick to double check.

Not sure what's going on, could be v1.05 has changed power output or the "Smart Steering/Roaming" is now causing the stick to bounce between two 2202's which are somewhat equidistant from the unit.

So my two choices are either just get Amazon's Ethernet adapter and go hard wired or set up my spare "A" COVR-2202 and place it closer to the media room. A shame to have to do that; didn't have to in the past.  :(

on and yes, that guest network being exposed just because we're in bridge mode is annoying. Has anyone had a a conversation with D-Link about it?

  • Was a Factory Reset performed before and after any firmware updates then set up from scratch?

Try moving the B point closer...

You can revert back to v1.04...

I recommend that you phone contact your regional D-Link support office and ask for help and information regarding this.

I have auto-update turned on, so I got the 1.05 FW update. I have Point A connected to an unmanaged switch, connecting to a desktop computer, a DVR and a streaming device. Itís been connected wirelessly to Point B (which reports an Excellent connection at covr.local), with B connected via Ethernet to a laptop, which works well so far.

I ran Ethernet from the switch to Point B and restarted B. I think I restarted A as well, I donít remember. I couldnít confirm that B was using the Ethernet connection. Using the laptop wired to Pt B, Speedtest gave me 455-480 Mbps down and 220 Mbps up. In the span of 5 or 6 hours, Pt A crashed twice and needed a reset. Pretty quickly after the second crash, I unplugged the Ethernet cable going to Pt B, and Iíve had no connectivity issues since then.

Today (a couple days after the test above) I tried Speedtest again and got 240 Mbps down and 185 Mbps up. If FW 1.04 was stable with a wired connection to Pt B, I might downgrade.

Thank you for letting us know. Glad I'm not the only one seeing the A point crash when the B point is wire connected. Ya, didn't do this on v1.04.

Please reach out to D-Link support and let them know what you saw. You can include this thread for reference as well.
I would revert to v1.04 if you need the B point to be wire connected. If not, leave it wirelessly connected while on v1.05.

v1.05 needs some work.  :-\

I just chatted with D-Link customer support. They didnít have more information about v1.05 to share and suggested I downgrade to 1.04 until there were more developments to 1.05. So thatís what Iíll be doing today.

Version 1.05 is broke. There are multiple tickets submitted so hopefully they can fix the issues. Downgrade to 1.04.

I went back to v1.0.4 and my Fire Stick at the fringes is happier. When looking with a WiFi tool before and after the downgrade from v1.0.5 it was clear that the connection on 1.0.5 was being "dropped" occasionally and reconnecting, this is why the Fire Stick was unhappy. Not sure if this was intentional as part of the 2202's Smart Roaming/Steering or not (some access point algorithms will consciously dump you if your connection is deemed low, hoping to force you to a better channel or other AP).

Hopefully D-Link will get this fixed. D-LInk seems to be aware of the problems with v1.05.

The support site now lists v1.05B05 as available, listing changes to the web GUI as the only difference. Does this include the other changes in 1.05 that several of us have rolled back from? I donít think Iíll install it to find out.

It should be the same version as what you install from the auto-upgrade. Unfortunately the release notes posted on support site is the only info I have on it.

You might give v1.06 a try:
http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=75783.0
Working well for me accept for one bug with the B Point.  :-\

Just logged into my COVR-2022 and was offered an update to a new firmware 1.05 (AU/NZ). Couldn't find any information or release note on this yet.
Any more information?
