This is just information for those who haven't tried on their DIR-885L.   

'The Quick VPN feature is working very well.  I am using iPhone/iPad and using outside home.
Since it is VPN, once I am connected to my DIR-885L, it can access 99% of the local network via Safari (e.g. type 192.168.0.x) 

my gear
DIR-885L rev A1 with firmware 1.12
iOS 10.2

btw, router is using DDNS. then iPhone/iPad uses ddns to connect.  is great

one thing I can't make it work is from windows 10 pro vpn to 885L.  still troubleshooting

yes until now, I can't make WIN10 PRO to QUICK VPN to 885L.  Googled and tried changing advance settings in win10 networking.  but still not working.  not urgent for me so not really spending too much time fixing.

on iOS, setup was like 1 minute, then connects vpn to 885L in less than 30seconds.

my gear is now win8.1 pro and win10 pro.  I dont have win7 at home. so nothing to try to quick vpn to 885L.
I can see in you signature having dir-890L, my guess is that the quick-vpn feature in 890L is identical to 885L

There are some networking issues in Windows 10. I don't use VPN.  ::)
