Wireless disconnect every 3 minutes

Hello, I own a DSP-W215 A1 with firmware 1.24 with the following problem:

It connects to WIFI for exactly 3 minutes, then it disconnects for 4 seconds and then reconnects again for 3 minutes then disconnects in an endless loop. It is not an access point or network issue. It is the DSP-W215 the problem. Also while the device is connected to my home AP, it keeps broadcasting SSID: DSP-63F4, so it works as client and AP at the same time, and I don't think thats the proper function.

I put the device on recovery mode (red led on) and connected to it by opening  http://192.168.0.80, and I can not downgrade the firmware on the device. (error 404)

I dont know what to do, any suggest?

  • What region are you located?

What Mfr and model is the main host router?
What wireless modes are you using?
  • Any other WiFi routers in the area that maybe causing interferences? Link> Use a WiFi Scanner to find out. How many?

How many other devices do you have connected with the main host router?

I am in Mexico,
I have tried 2 devices, Mikrotik WAPAC and Ubiquiti AP AC LR, both working as AP,  same results, it disconnects, also I do a ping to the DSP-W215 and it drop for 4 or 5 seconds every 180 seconds. I check the log of my APs and I get the disconnect info. I tried different 2.4ghz channels and bandwidth (20 or 40 mhz).

The main router is Mikrotik CCR 1009.

I have the DSP-W215 connected to the AP and a dlink movement sensor (this one works perfectly with no drops) connected to the same AP.

Sounds like maybe the DSP is faulty. I recommend that you phone contact your regional D-Link support office and ask for help and information regarding this. We find that phone contact has better immediate results over using email.

Well, I have no product warranty, since I win this product on a DLINK product demonstration in Mexico and I have no invoice, so warranty didn't proceed.

I must learn to live with a 3 minute disconnect issue. I tried downgrading the firmware to see if the problem persist but I had no luck.

I would try the DSP with a different wifi router and see if the problem follows, if it does then you'll know. You might ask D-Link support to see what there policy is for product contests at there demonstrations. Tell them where and when you won it.

Hi,

I have the same problem since my smart plug upgraded to the latest firmware v1.24. The Dlink DIR890L router (connected to a log server) log showing new client connection request from the smart plug  every few minutes. At first, i did not take much notice of its until it is getting worst. The smart plugs still follow the programmed schedule, but the plug connection with the dlink portal is not stable, showing the plugs are offline. But i checked on the plug, the LED is green.

Now all the smart plugs are boardcasting their SSID. I have tried to reinstall one smart completely and it did not make any difference. I did a power cycle with all the plug and it did not make any changes either.

These plugs are still under warranty.

Follow up to my previous message. I have made contact to Dlink tech support and it did not make difference.

They told me to turn off Smart connect (not to use key feature of the Dlink DIR890 router).
They told me to change the 2.4GHz frequency to difference channel.

They even told me to upgrade the router firmware to v1.10 which will shrink the wifi coverage at my home.

Besides, the Dlink 890 router have been my MOST disappointed router from Dlink, I have problem with it since day one. Now  I adjust the home network setting  to suit the router issue.

  • What Hardware version is your router? Look at sticker under the router case.
  • Link>What Firmware version is currently loaded? Found on the routers web page under status.
