Link>Welcome!

  • What Hardware version is your DCS? Look at the sticker behind or under the camera.
  • Link>What Firmware version is currently loaded? Found on the DCSs web page under status.
  • What region are you located?

Have you tried a factory reset on the camera and set up from scratch to see if there is any change in behavior?

Any resolution to this problem? I have the same camera and having the same issue. My camera is inside pointing toward an interior wall. With the sensitivity set to 20 I am getting triggers every couple minutes but still can miss a person walking past the camera. I have tried 10 and it reduces the false alarms to just a few a day but misses most people walking by the camera and seems to only detect a person if they stop in front of the camera or are walking very slow. At 15 I still get too many false alarms. At 8 and 9 I stop detecting most people walking past the camera. I have tried reducing the detection area to a small portion of the image but it still behaves the same way.

Not so far. I have also tried everything you mentioned, including factory reset. I'm running FW 1.02. I have given up on trying to use the DLink cameras to detect motion and alert\record. I still record when it "thinks" its detecting something, but I don't text or email. This way I can always go back and look at events just in case. The good news is the the cameras were not very expensive. Next time will will make sure to set them up and test within the first week, so I can return them. I would like to install more, but since the DLink cameras don't perform well (at least for what I want) I haven't. I really don't want to have multiple brands. On the flip side, they do have a nice HD picture when you are viewing them live (during the day).

Have you contacted D-Link support about this on the phone?

Yes, more than once. I finally gave up. You can only factory reset, reload FW, and start over so many times. Life is too short.

Having the exact same issues with two DCS-936L's. Constant motion alarms even when set at 20% and dropping the motion area to a bare minimum. It constantly triggers and seems to focus in and out.

Firmware Version: 1.02.01
Hardware Version: A
Agent Version: 2.1.0-b11

I have restored to factory default settings but it did not change the behavior.

Ok, I've passed this on to D-Link, it's under review. All I can do for now.

Hello,

Having exact same problem with 2 cameras.
Started with a DCS-935L and bought a DCS-936L with same results.
Updated firmware during setups.
Pointing at an angle from an inside window towards my front door.
Set trigger to motion only and have tried sensitivity at different levels all the way down to 1%.
I set it to daylight only so it stopped sending during the night but starts promptly as soon as sun starts peeking over the horizon.
I noticed during playback of attached e-mail recording that image seems to adjust (repaint?) slightly in the middle of the 10 seconds so I suspect that is triggering the motion. This is not sun or cloud induced.

Still having same issue. Infuriating. Can turn it down to 1-5% and it will still focus at certain times of the day. Maybe a firmware update would help it.  Need help.

As an attempt at a work around, remove the motion detection from this middle area.

Hi Ryat3.

Sorry but I meant at the mid point of the recording (meaning at 5 seconds of the 10 second video).
Not the middle of the picture.
I have it set to record 5 seconds prior to the motion and 5 seconds afterward for a total of 10 seconds.
The image repaint is the entire screen, like it was resetting itself or something.
