Folder sudddenly dead this morning...?
« on: September 17, 2016, 05:01:54 AM »

One of my folders on my NAS (the important one) all of a sudden in windows is throwing permission errors "The operation canít be completed because you donít have permission"

On my Mac I can go browse the folder, but on windows it's just Toast

I've tried running these chmod\chown commands, didn't seem to do anything... thoughts?

Which version of windows?  If it is 10 then the best thing you can do is go back to win7 or format the hard disk and install Linux.

The fact that you have access to the folder with another operating system and the chmod\chown commands did nothing puts the problem squarely on your windows operating system.  Our experience with customers since the last win10 update is that win10 is still very much beta software that should never have been inflicted on the public without a lot more in house testing.

Sorry but that is the way we see it.

This is a known problem acknowledged by Microsoft:
