Setting up FTP on the 2332L camera
« on: February 20, 2016, 11:06:13 PM »

Yes, I know there are some other threads out there that touch this subject, but they are old and so far have not addressed my problem with FTP.

I'm running firmware 1.07.00 (just downloaded and installed).  I have setup E-mail successfully, but so far have not been able to get FTP to work.  I have several 930L cameras which are successfully FTPing images to my web server.  I have copied the setting from one of those cameras to the 2332L without a successful test.  I have tried various alterations of the settings (remove leading "/" from the folder name, adding/removing a trailing "/" from the folder name, using the IP address instead of the my server name (www.myserver.com), etc.  No happiness.

When I go to my server "system" log I see that the FTP attempts are timing out.  The initial setting was 120 seconds which I increased to 240 seconds with no effect.

Interesting, one of the threads ideas was to add a new folder to the end of my normal folder name (for example: /myftp/dlink/) making it /myftp/dlink/test/.  When I look at the server, it then had a new folder  called test, so FTP seems to be getting there for but is not sending a file???

This is getting on my nerves.  Any ideas or help?

Thanks....RDK

OK, looks like no one has any ideas??

Is it the operator (ie me), the camera or the firmware?  Is it generally working for the rest of you?

If I wanted to roll  back to an earlier version of the firmware, what do I have to do to get the file?

Thanks.....RDK

Are you in the USA?  Did you get this camera at a discount? Didn't the 2330L replace this?

I have the 2330l...  and I come across this post here via search:  http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=60143.0

RYAT3....Thanks for the reply.  I'm part time in the USA and part time in France.  I bought the camera last fall when I thought one of my French 930L's was dying.  I recently brought it to France and am now trying to get it working, as  you can see by my posts :-(

Until someone suggests a fix to the FTP problem, I have configured an event to send images to my local/intranet server every 15 minutes.  I now will set up a scheduled task to FTP the latest image to my "real" webserver for inclusion into a webpage, instead of pulling the current photo when the page is opened as I discussed in another thread.

However, "best laid plans of mice and men", it looks like the folder structure is going to change daily and the file names are all suffixed with a series of random numbers.  In the event/media section I did not check the date-time suffix box.  Do you now of anyway to tell it to always use the same file name, overwriting the last one?  If not, then I'm going to have to write a script to select the latest folder and the latest image, rename it before I FTP it.

Ideas or comments?....RDK

I finally got back to this issue and have figured it out!

Regardless of what the setup dialog says for FTP, the firmware is using PASSIVE FTP all the time.  As soon as I changed my internet server to accept passive FTP it all started working.

I hope this helps some others.....RDK
