890 vs 895?
« on: February 25, 2015, 07:59:39 PM »

Is there a direct feature comparison somewhere between the 890 and 895? I know it has a faster processor, higher speed, and more antennas. Or do we not know much more than that? Do we not have an approximate price yet? Spring 2015.. I'm guessing it too should be coming soon.

How do you like the new router admin area? I logged into the emulator to look around.. looks totally different and will have to get used to, but it appears they streamlined things so they're easier to find.

I am curious to know why the AC3100 unit and the AC5300 unit have 1.4Ghz processors, but the AC3200 only has 1.0Ghz..

This is the new UI that D-Link is heading towards using. I presume that this will be in all newer generation routers current and coming to market in the future. The UI is less granular and less complex and more simplified. Some users have expressed some discontent over it and we hope that D-Link will include more advanced features for those more advanced users as time goes on. Overall I like the new UI and some of the newer features like the status and data flow reports on each connection.

So no idea why the processor is 1Ghz (AC3200) when the other two routers (AC3100 and AC5300) are listed as 1.4Ghz or is that a typo?

Check your PM.. if you're going to upgrade to 895 when it comes out maybe I'll buy your 890 for a good price? Otherwise if you're not upgrading, I might hold out for the 895.. or heck I just get the 890.. anyway lemme know your plans..

No idea about processor abilities.

Need the 890L for testing currently.  ::)

Oh well, just thought I'd throw it out there. :)

Every year I'd go to a computer show with a friend and he'd buy a new video card and I'd get his old one for a good price.

The running joke was I'd say "I know where you can get that $500 video card for $400" and my friend would forget I did it to him the previous year. But in the end we'd settle on a good price for both of us.

I might get impatient and not hold out for the 5300. Or maybe I'll do with I tried to do with you.. find someone else who wants a good deal on my old 3200 when the 5300 comes out.

Since he had Android,  He should use wifi analyzer app to see which channel he is on and signal strength.
