the server shows, I setup the driver (tcp/ip) I can print a test page via the server page, but NOT thru the actual printer properties page, nor can I print anything...

running win 7 premium, printer is an hp laserjet  25403

  • What region are you located?

If you can print a test page with the print server connected, the server should be good. I'd check your driver settings, update any printer drivers if needed. Ensure the driver is correctly configured for networking to the right IP address of the Print Server. Remove and reinstall the drivers. Set up a reserved IP address for the print server on the main host router.

Has this been working before or is this a new installation?

What mfr and model is the main host router?

Reserving IP addresses isn't necessary however is a troubleshooting step to see if you can get something working. Reserving IP addresses or even in this case setting a static IP address ON this device would be recommended anyways.

Driver type shouldn't make any difference however PCL6 is the most preferred used unless you have specific needs for PCL5.

You can try this, unsecure the WiFi on the main host router and re-connect the 301P to the router again then run some tests. Re-secure the WiFi after testing. Check the drivers on the PCs to make sure they are correctly configured for the IP address being used for the printer server.

1st off, thank you for your help here....

I received a phone call from dlink support and they told me, this wasn't win7 compatible...but from the short time I spoke with her, I wasn't convinced she knew that much about it, like YOU.. I have read through many different posts  on the internet, it works fine on a win 7 o/s... Do you know this to be the case?   Once again, thanks for all you help, and I will try over the weekend you advice...

From a official support stand point, this is not officially supported by D-Link on Windows 7. Since this unit was last worked on around 2004/2005 era, long before windows 7 arrived. So windows 7 in itself may be able to support it technically as the parallel connection standards have not changed any over the years. There is a v3.50 FW updated dated 2005 that you could try to apply if you haven't done so already.
