DAP-1520
« on: April 08, 2014, 07:56:24 PM »

Have not seen a thread on this hardware yet so starting here. Bought two of these to compliment my DIR-868L. 1 in garage, 1 in family room.

1) Great Coverage! Absolutely amazing. My AC network throughput at the sketchy corners went from 4mbps to 144mbps
2) HTML 5 interface, very user friendly.
3) Great size!

Now onto some of the things I was hoping to see and some small issues.

1) Dual networks to extend. Would like to extend my private and guest networks
2) Channelize the extenders. While 5GHz has no overlapping channels, my 2.4GHz does and these all appear to be locked to the same channel when using inSSIDer and Channelyzer to build out the network.
3) Firmware update is something to be resolved. Auto updated to 1.01 with a build date of 12/31/2013 but it keeps prompting to update to 1.01 with a build date of 10/24/2013. Additionally, the most recent posted firmware on the support page is 1.00 B21. The release notes are also empty with what is resolved.

Thanks, been a while since I posted but the newer firmwares have been great. The only thing I would really like to see outside of extending both networks is disabling DHCP. In my managed network, this device serves addresses even when connected to the  wifi network. It would be great if this could be turned off or switched to only serve if the extended network cannot be reached. Otherwise still in love with this product.

Does the user manual mention any thing about disabling DHCP?

Negative however it does seem a bit smarter in the more recent firmwares that if a DHCP server is present, it stops serving DHCP.
