enable or disable auto bandwidth estimation?
« on: January 21, 2014, 02:07:02 PM »

Should i leave this enabled or disabled? i have a 50 down, 3 up connection, if i leave it enabled it tests at 43 and 2.17. Just wondering if i should manually put in 50 and 3??

thanks in advance

I've been told there is some fudge factor when using SB and ABE. SO even though the speeds show a bit lower then actual, the router is getting what it's detecting.

Are you getting accurate speeds when wired with a PC from speedtest.net?

What FW version do you have currently loaded?

I have been seeing 50/3 on mine with SB and ABE enabled.

Speedtest is showing 42 down and 2.1 up. Im happy with that. Just noticed some people have suggested turning it off and manually inputting values, such as 50 and 3, or 100 and 10. Just wasnt sure what the best course of action was. Thanks

I've been using DNS relay disabled and use custom DNS found here:
Link>Finding Faster DNS Addresses using Name Bench

You can test out what works better for you, try with SB and ABE enables or enter in 100 and 10 and see how it goes.

what exactly is DNS relay? it doesnt seem to be affect the router, and i use 2 dns servers to get netflix from other countries.

would i be ok manually setting ABE at 50 and 3? or does it have to be 100 and 10?

I think someone posted something about that...I think D-Link is aware of it.

Manually setting to 50 and 3 should be good. Don't do 100/10.  When you manually set it to 50/3 does your speed test results improve?

The DNS relay I believe acts as a local DNS cache to speed up DNS lookups.  It's buggy in the current firmware and the speed improvements are minimal at best IMO.
