  • What region are you located?

So can you give more details on what the strange is about this?
Is it working or not?

What region are you located?

Try switching the 5Ghz radio from Mixed all modes to single mode N, WPA2/AES only...

Does single mode AC, WPA2/WES only work? Try AC and WPA2/TPIK only.

I recommend that you try a different router, maybe a DIR-868 or 860L that maybe located and fully supported in your region with the iPad.

Also ensure that the iPad is up to date on it's iOS SW.

As far as I know, Ipad air and mini2 wifi module is same.
you also test it.

I have the same problem with iPads (we have two iPad2's, an iPad mini, and one of the newer iPad retinas) and this router.

2.4Ghz band connects and works fine
5Ghz band connects, but you can't do anything.

Our MacBook Pros and iPhones are fine on the 5Ghz band.

After making many settings changes over the past few days the only way I could get the iPads to work on the 5Ghz band was to completely disable security and leave it open.

They work fine on the 5Ghz band connected to my previous Linksys and Airport Extreme routers.

This is one of the problems I'm trying to solve right now.   Also having problems when my son plays CoD:Ghosts on his PS4 (wireless - 2.4Ghz) that it crashes the router.   Playing on my PS4 (wired) is fine.

Two always show up.   Three or four more show up every now and then.   Most are on Channel 6.  I've switched between 1 and 11 and have had no effect (My PS4 is also on Channel 6).

I'm the only one using the 5Ghz band out of all of them.

I've tried all of this.   I set up a spreadsheet with all the options on the wireless page (and a few others such as disabling media server) and went through all the combinations (OCD software engineer in me trying to debug).

The only thing that worked for the iPads were to completely disable the security on the 5Ghz band.   Then they worked beyond just connecting.

The CoD:Ghosts problem, I can't work on until the weekend since my son has his PS4 at his mother's house (working on wireless with their Cisco router).    Will go through the whole spreadsheet again this weekend.
