X Box one and Xbox live ports with COD Ghosts
« on: November 30, 2013, 05:36:38 AM »

I am curious if Xbox one is using different ports than the 360, per MS support these are the ports the Xbone is using.
Xbox Live requires the following ports to be open:

Port 88 (UDP)
Port 3074 (UDP and TCP)- Main gaming port.
Port 53 (UDP and TCP)
Port 80 (TCP)
Port 500 (UDP)
UDP Port 3544 (UDP)
UDP Port 4500 (UDP)

So I pulled up my internet sessions while playing online.  My Xbone is using port 3075 as the main gaming port instead of port 3074. Here is a screen shot, the IP address outlined in red are MS hosting, cloud server, and Demonware (stat tracking).  Anyway what I find interesting, that all the ports associated with MS or cloud is using port 3074 however all the other Xbone players are mostly using port 3075, same as me with a couple of other players just using some other random port.  I am sure the reason why the Xbone is using port 3075 for most user is because they also own 360's which uses port 3074 exclusively.

Anyway, any fellow Xbone players may want to double check their GF rules and port forwarding set up to make sure they are working correctly.

If anyone only owns an Xbone, it would be interesting to see if it is using port only 3074 and not some other port.

I noticed that the xbox one says open NAT but ghosts says moderate. Xbox one also shows my MTU at 1480. WTF!?!?!?!? It's set at 1500 in the router. You were a good router my little 4500. I just purchased your big brother the DGL-5500 for 107.00. Should arrive in a few days. CAN'T WAIT!!!!

You try any of the suggestions in the XB1 trouble shooting link?

Furry,
No updates, it is still using port 3075.

Theother,
Here is a few things you can try:
1.  Reset the modem and router.
2.  Reset the Xbox one by holding down the power button for 20-30 seconds or by just unplugging the main power cord for 5 seconds.
3. Go into your network settings on the Xbox one and select Test multiplayer connection. Quickly hold down both L/R triggers and L/R bumpers and hold them until it's done testing. After it's done, it should say on the right half of the screen that your behind a cone NAT. Your NAT Type should now be open.

4.  How did you get the 5500 for $107?

Also don't worry about the MTU, that is just the Xbox ones max while the router max is 1500.  This would only be an issue if your router was set to less than 1480 MTU

There's been other information that XB1 uses 3075 more than 3074 for some reason.  :-\

Interesting, come to think of it, I don't recall any actual Xbox one user using port 3074 unless affiliated with COD or MS.  I looked the other day again and sure enough everyone was using port 3075!  MS will probably update their port usage on their website for what ports to forward!

Good old MS!

I wouldn't be surprised, keep the 360 traffic on 3074 and XB1 on 3075...  ::)

Ya, I'm headed back to PC gaming this March I think, for a while.  ;D
