No IPV6 - is it in the future of this device?
« on: September 23, 2013, 11:46:02 AM »

My ISP is already testing IPV6 and rolling out SOON, i'm wondering if we'll ever have support on the 5500.

It's been added to the requested list. Not sure though.  :-\

Even though Browsers are currently the main thing using IPv6 along with the connection protocols, I haven't seen or heard of many games and or game consoles using IPv6 as of yet. Not even sure if the newer gen consoles coming out are support it yet.

This could be one reason why D-Link might have left it out and didn't see a need for a gaming router with gaming applications that are not set up for IPv6 currently. This is a gaming router mind you. Ya, I guess it would be nice for all non-gaming applications that support IPv6 to be able to have access in this router as it's becoming more prominent as time goes on. My ISP still hasn't even considered it.  ::)

I can't believe Dlink would think end users would use this unit to game 24/7...impractical. First and foremost the majority of users are using THIS router as the main router and have desktop machines connected to it and some may have other (bridged and AP)routers and switches connected via the LAN ports.
Why not include IPV6 for web compatibility?

Would love to see in the next update IPV6 and increase the watts on the 5ghz wireless!!!!!!! Ya I know in the last update suppose to have done that, but I am not seeing it .....at all >:(

When it comes to marketing and those folk...who knows why they didn't include it. Could be other reasons too, maybe SB isn't compatible with the IPv6 spec. Who knows. Will have to be patient to see what they do in the future.

Can do IPV6 externally and IPV4 internally..and just translate through NAT.
