Welcome!
  • Link>What Firmware version is currently loaded? Found on the routers web page under status.
  • What region are you located?
  • Are you wired or wireless connected to the router?
  • Has a Factory Reset been performed?
  • Was a Factory Reset performed before and after any firmware updates?
  • Was the router doing this before any firmware updates?

Internet Service Provider and Modem Configurations
  • What ISP Service do you have? Cable or DSL?
  • What ISP Modem Mfr. and model # do you have?
  • What ISP Modem service link speeds UP and Down do you have?
  • Check ISP MTU requirements, Cable is usually 1500, DSL is around 1492 down to 1472. Call the ISP and ask. Link>Checking MTU Values
  • For DSL/PPPoE connections on the router, ensure that "Always ON" option is enabled.

Is ABE enabled under StreamBoost or disabled?
I've seen this too however it goes away I believe. I think it has to do with SB and it's testing of the internet speed between the ISP modem and router and something is blocking it from testing, like other devices online and streaming from the internet. There's no official word on what some things in the logs are.  :-\[/list]

FYI, If this modem has a built in router, it's best to bridge the modem. Having 2 routers on the same line can cause connection problems: Link>Double NAT and How NAT Works. To tell if the modem is bridged or not, look at the routers web page, Status/Device Info/Wan Section, if there is a 192.168.0.# address in the WAN IP address field, then the modem is not bridged. If the modem can't be bridged then see if the modem has a DMZ option and input the IP address the router gets from the modem and put that into the modems DMZ.

Doe it still happen if you disable ABE?

Thanks, I'll look into bridging.

Currently I am just trying to get the router to run for more than 24 hours before it locks up, so I am trying not to make a bunch of daily changes just to keep it up. So far, the 1.1b firmware seems far more stable, so hopefully if that's the case, I can play around with things like bridging.

I know I can do DMZ with the router. But things like UPNP work ok; which is all I really need to work (for now).

It would be big help if every time you change an option that shouldn't require a reboot it wouldn't require a reboot :)

UPDATE: I was getting a "Bandwidth Warning" message on the ABE and everytime I tried to turn it off and run test bandwidth, it failed.

I turned off ABE and after a while and a few reboots for other things, the message went away and I could test the bandwidth just fine.

I noticed the same thing when I updated to FW1.10. I was using FF and there were a few other glitches in the web browser. Decided to CLEAR web browser cache, and all is good now!!!!

I recommend you check into bridging, however Uverse isn't known for bridging so DMZ may be the way to go...keep us posted.

I have the DGL-5500 fully updated with this issue (Pipe in use, aborting test)

My other issue is still ongoing after talking to the D-Link Support that had me switch from Channel 11 to channel 6 to fix an issue with Network Active devices not showing up
Sorry to say but still an issue. ::)

I called D-link support 3/3/14 and was on hold for 45 min only to hear phone ring and click. Hung up.
Not how you treat a customer.

1) Current Firmware Version :    1.11   Date : Purchased 11/13/2013 and updated
2) Florida, USA.
3) Wired and wireless
4) Factory reset yes and backed up.
5) Factory reset yes and backed up.
6) Cable Bright-house
7) Ubee DDW3611  Lighting 90mbs down, 15 up. setup as Modem is Bridge
9) Cable 1500
10) Always on is on.

I have been a D-Link customer for well over 20 years and I have setup many home & office networks.

From what I am seeing DGL-5500 needs a firmware update to let the customer pick what ever channel they want and to also fix network active devices issue.

Link>Welcome!

  • Has a Factory Reset been performed?
  • Was a Factory Reset performed before and after any firmware updates then set up from scratch?
FW Update Process
  • Was the router working before any firmware updates?

Is the managing PC the only device connected to the router when you set up the router and let it perform it's speed test? Ensure no other devices are connected and streaming while you set up the router...

What happens if you manual input 100/20 in to the SB/ABE window?

Ensure that the ISP modem is bridged fully.
Is the ISP modem using Dynamic or Static IP addressing?

You can pick what ever channel you want on the radios...
Web Browser Configurations
What browser are you using?
Try Opera or FF? If IE 8, 9, 10 or 11, set compatibility mode and test again.
Disable any security browser Add-ons like No Script and Ad-Block or configure them to allow All Pages when connected to the router.
Clear all browser caches.
Be sure to log into the Admin account on the router.
Try turning off these features in Chrome:
Top right corner, little bars for options > Settings > Settings (on left) > Show advanced settings.
Uncheck these:
Use a web service to help resolve navigation errors
Use a prediction service to help complete searches and URLs typed in the address bar
Predict network actions to improve page load performance
Enable phishing and malware protection
