Is My Book Pro Edition external harddrive supported?
« on: October 28, 2012, 04:53:00 AM »

I've been trying to connect my MyBook 500GB USB disk to the DIR-645 router, but cannot get it to recognise the disk.

DIR-645 firmware is 1.01 (should be latest).
The disk is a : Western Digital My Book Pro Edition WDG1T5000

I've tried reformatting from NTFS to FAT32 - No Luck
I've tried re-boot with the disk in the router - No Luck

If I insert a USB stick it works - so the USB port is working.

Is my MyBook simply not supported or what should I try?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Try some of my processes here to get it to connect:

Also, make sure the external USB HDD has a connected power supply adapter and it's ON.

Enable the status and critical logging on the router before you connect the USB drive and see if you notice any of the logging picking up mounting of the drive as mentioned in post #9 in that link.

Also v1.02 is the latest version available if your in the U.S. Lets try to get your HDD going before updating FW.

Let us know how it goes.
