Presuming you already have a router, you may want to look at the DNS-320 and DNS-325. These two devices are 2-bay NAS with a built-in bit torrent client, and can operate on your network without the support of a PC. The DIR-685 is a router (with support for externally connected USB storage devices), not a NAS enclosure.

This devices is not longer marketed or produced. It has been phased out. I would recommend looking at one of the DNS options JavaLawyer has suggested. This is a router with an enclosure for a HDD to be added. This router is not a full on NAS device. If your looking to share movies, I would recommend something that JavaLawer has suggested or building a dedicated PC to store and share out movie files and data. I have a PC like this at home and use Boxee Box to watch movies.

Good Luck.

Addendum: I stand corrected. The device does contain one internal 2.5" HDD slot. Even so, the DIR-685 was phased out and there are dedicated devices designed to do a much better job for distributing files and multimedia.

thanks you guys for your answer.
I've a linksys wrt54g, but a moved to a new home, and the range for this linksys its no enought.
So I need to buy a new router and plus a NAS to share my files.
So I see this device and maybe can I conect both devices to grow the range and at same time get a nas.

I red that when you use the nas of this device the performance decreases, is it correct?

thanks in advance.

I'll just say that the performance of this device has had its challenges. Additionally, the product is no longer supported by D-Link.

Keep in mind that the DNS-320/325 are not dedicated media streamers, per se. They do support media streaming and have built-in iTunes, UPnP, and DLNA servers. If you're looking for a robust solution, you may consider purchasing a good router; NAS with high bandwidth support; and a dedicated media streamer (with remote) so you can control content from your couch (i.e. Boxee Box or one of the many manufacturers offering similar solutions).

If your looking for range, a stand alone router with wireless may not be enough. I would recommend getting into a new router and along with maybe getting into a DAP model wireless range extender to help you get more wireless coverage if you need too. Something like a DAP-1525 or 1533. The DIR series of routers. I had good experiences with most of them so far. All work very well. I'm currently using the DIR-857. Have had great experiences with the DIR-825, 655 and 645 as well.

One other suggestion to keep in mind, using Gb wired LAN and Gb connected devices is most preferred for streaming and handling high data throughput. Also having a dedicated external Gb network switch also comes in handy as well. In my case, using the switch helps separate high streaming devices from unnecessary processing by my router from gaming applications that my router does need to process. So while someone is watching a movie from the server, gaming is unaffected while I'm connected to the router.

I should also point out that wireless streaming, even using a state-of-the-art consumer router, will likely have buffering/performance issues with HD video. Practically speaking, your storage, media streamer, and TV should all be wired.

If you're looking for a more economical solution and have a limited video/music/image library, there are other manufacturers that offer media streamers with built-in 3.5 HDD support (e.g. Netgear). I would definitely look into upgrading your router, as FurryNutz suggests.  The DIR-857 is a solid router with excellent performance.
