Horizontal or vertical

What is the best mounting position for the DIR-628?  Horizontal or Vertical?

And what is the best way to position the two antenna in that mounting position?

Situation: am in a basement on one side of a duplex apartment, and want the signal to go as far as possible to the first floor on the other side of the duplex.  That's about 60-70 feet.

Wireless Installation Considerations

What wireless modes are you using? Under Setup/Wireless/Manual.
Try single mode G or N or mixed G and N?

How can I tell on my various devices if it they are G or N?  Laptops? Netbook? iPad? Droid 4? For example, I just looked at my Motorola Droid 4 phone -- it is a device that has only been on the market for a few months, so I assume it is a "N" device, but how can I tell for sure?

I would review the devices manuals or support web sites on specs for what each device can do.
