What's a "BT issue"?  Bluetooth interference?

Is there a possibility of downloading firmware 1.00 as well?  I always get nervous when I update router firmware, especially if there's no possibility of going back to the previous one (and, except for the ''[truncated] m" message, it works well).

Erm, well, I flashed the new firmware using Google Chrome. When I cliched "upload" rather than seeing it upload, I got a dialog asking me to check an option to prevent any further dialogs from opening. Not knowing quite what to do, I ignored that and continued. Then I got a new tab with a Dlink logo and some other stuff that didn't seem related to firmware update. I waited quite a while and nothing happened, so I returned to the previous page and this time checked off the option to suppress further dialogs. When I continued, this time I saw the firmware update being uploaded and everything went as I had expected it would. Except, once the firmware update process was done, the router never restarted. When I looked at it, the power LED was completely off. So I unplugged and replugged it. The LED came on as a yellow light and stayed that way. No blue lights at all. Not even after waiting 10 minutes.

Is this thing bricked?

Where did I go wrong? How was this supposed to have wowrked? Did anyone ever test the firmware update process with Google Chrome?

So after this I presume that you can no longer get to the routers web page?

I highly recommend using IE, Opera or FF for uploading FW updates. I have seen some issues in using Chrome and router web pages. I personally don't use Chrome for managing or updating the router.

I presume you were wired and not wireless to the router?

Did you follow the firmware update process sticky? Firmware Updating

Correct, the router is unresponsive. I was definitely wired (over GB ethernet). The only step I skipped in the FW update process was the reset to factory after backing up the config. Never had to do that with my DIR-655.

FYI, It's highly recommended to do factory reset after saving the config.

Lets try this: Emergency Recovery Mode

If this fails to recover the router, You'll need to return this router to place of purchase or RMA it.

Perhaps having the U/I of the router automatically revert to factory settings when the upload firmware button is pressed (after upload but just before actually flashing) could be a new feature... Some users might get miffed, but a warning dialog indicating exactly what is happening (encouraging settings save prior, etc.) might be a good idea for future enhancements.

When the data file is sent, routers, I presume avoid doing anything else and go into the accept mode of receiving and verifying the data file so the router reverting to some other setting would not be possible. More like using a non tested browser like Chrome would be an issue here and how Chrome is handling the connection with the router and the FW file. I highly recommend using known working browsers like IE for Windows and Safari for Mac for updating FW. I personally have tested FF and Opera and they are working well for updating and manging the router. In most cases, when I update FW, I use IE to be safe. I also highly recommend following the steps detailed in the FW update sticky process as each step ensures updating FW is done correctly and prevents any possible update problems. This has been tested and works well.

My 2 cents.

Hey, has anyone out there performed the 1.01 update successfully? (May not get an answer to this because sometimes only people who have trouble come to the forums)

It failed. RMA'd. With Chrome overtaking IE in market share, it would be nice if Dlink could test with Chrome in the future. In the meantime, I'll use IE the next time I need to flash.

I can't wait to read your review/analysis of the new firmware.
I would not expect the changes to be that phenomenal, considering that it is 1.01 and not 1.1 - but you'll have to let us know.

(I still want to own one, btw, but there are a few things I wanted them to fix - as per my previous posts)
