DIR-628 Lights Flashing
« on: April 06, 2012, 02:26:04 PM »

My router does not work at all.  The lights are flashing in a certain sequence as follows:

All lights out.
"D-LINK" flashes very quickly once.
"D-LINK" and all four LAN port lights flash very quickly once.
"D-LINK" and all four LAN port lights stay on for about 1 second.
"POWER" light comes on with all above for about 1 second with above lights still on.
All lights out and repeat.

Is this thing fried or what?  I would appreciate some help.  Thanks!

Welcome!
What Hardware version is your router? Look at sticker under router.
What Firmware version is currently loaded? Found on routers web page under status.

Are you wired or wireless connected to the router?

Might check the voltage on the power supply adapter and see if it's getting the correctly out put.
Has this unit been working?

Holding down the back reset button do anything? Do this with all devices disconnected accept for one wired PC.

Nobody responded to my post. I presume this is a hard failure and you need to contact DLink support for help and RMA.

Does holding the back reset button for 10 sections do anything for you?

It exactly happend to my router as well.
I think it is power supply issue because it is getting very very hot but I am not sure.
I tried all resettings suggestions but none of them worked.
Unfortunately I do not have device to measure voltage and current of the power supply.
Please help.

I would find a electronics repair facility near you and see if they can measure the voltage.
I would contact Dlink and ask if they can send you a new power supply.
Or you can get a replacement one from places like officebeyond.com I think.

I had this very same issue this morning and found the power supply to be extremely hot.  I replaced the power supply with an identical unit from another router, reset to factory defaults, reloaded my saved configuration file and was back in normal operation in less than 10 minutes.  The power supply is an AF 1805-A, 5VDC, 2.5A switching supply and can be purchased from Amazon for $3.24 (as of today).  Hopefully this will fix your problem as well.
