DHD-131 TV ADAPTER - sound but no picture on LGHDTV

Hi.  Wondering if anyone can help. Just purchased an ACER computer with WIDI and here's the deal

- connected via HDMI
- I can see the ready for connection screen on AV1
- when I connect & extend the TV (LG) goes black - can't get picture
- I can hear sound
- tried another port and another hdmi cable - no luck
- If I connect through the r/y/w cables onto that tv port & the dlink box I can see/hear just fine but no hi def.
- called support at dlink & spent hours but they couldn't figure it out

I have to think its one of the video settings somewhere but can't find it. Probably simple but its driving me nuts. Anyone able to help?
