Useable Surveillance System
« on: March 14, 2011, 03:54:03 AM »

I upgraded to Ver3.1.1 of D-ViewCam software & now have a functional home surveillance system.  Very Cool.  It has a few quirks that I'd like to understand & hopefully fix, but for now its up & running & faithfully recording motion events around the house 24/7.

I only have a single camera system (DCS-920 wireless + Cisco E3000 Router + Compaq Laptop) so far, but after a few snafus it's working as I hoped.  I intend to add more cameras in time but its a solid start.  It seems very easy on disk space (default mode).  I started with 60G free on my hard drive & after the first 24 hours of events I still have 60G free.  So based on the recycle feature I should be able to record for a VERY long time before re-cycling.  More cameras will affect this, but based on the size of the files so far I should still be able to record for a VERY long time with multiple cameras.  Also very cool.

If you're curious about a useable home or business surveillance system this is very practical.  Give it a whirl.......
