No Connectivity Between Wired and Wireless Devices (on main SSID)

Ive had this 655 for about a year now and it has been rock solid. But, there has been one slight issue thats been driving me crazy.

And and all wireless devices can see each other and all wired devices can see each other....but the wired cant see the wireless and vis versa.

The wireless devices (W7 and Vista laptops) can see the wired devices when they are plugged in. But my phone and Galaxy Tab can only see whatever wireless devices there are (cant be plugged in). Even my wired Samsung TV cant see the shares on the Tab or wireless laptops (and vis versa). So, its certainly not a firewall or OS config issue.

Now, I made sure they are all connecting via the main SSID and not the "isolated" Guest SSID....but its acting like the main SSID is isolated from the wired LAN somehow.

Firmware 1.34. IPs for the wired and wireless devices are all in the 1.2 - 1.50 range.

What am I missing here? :0

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

In the router settings.  Select the Advanced tab > Advanced Wireless - Make sure WLAN partition is unchecked.

When I read your reply my initial response was "Oh! No way!".

Sadly, though, it is not enabled/checked.

I even checked it/saved...then unchecked it/saved...for good measure. But, no change....

Using static IP addressing on the router?
Are the devices connected to the router on the same WorkGroup name?
Sharing and Network Discovery enabled on each device?

Some machines are static, some reserved, and some dynamic.

It makes no diff between what sees what. All on same workgroup and homegroup (where applicable).

Everything can see everything else on the same (LAN/WAN) side so its clearly a router issue IMHO.

I'm gonna try resetting the router. Dont know what else it could be.

Backed up settings. Factory defaulted. Updated fiw to 1.35. Restored settings. And....walah! It's all working as it should. No more WAN/LAN isolation!

How odd.

Very Odd. Wonder if you backed up settings now and reapplied the 1.34 FW and reloaded the settings, would you see the same thing?

I spoke too soon.  :(  AND I figured out another piece to the puzzle.

It's not wireless vs wired. It is static vs dynamic/dhcp.

For example, with one of the laptops that I was testing with, I had the wired connection set to static IP and the wireless as dynamic. Plugged in...it was accessible to the other wired (static) devices.

But, when plugged in and set to dynamic.....nadda!

Any ideas on the static / dynamic isolation now? :0

I would set all of your connected deviced to Static IP addresses in Setup/Network settings on the router. Leave the device networking set to automatic. They will get the assigned IP addresses when they connect to the router.

All the wired devices ARE static and all the wireless devices are dynamic.

Exacatly and as I stated, "I would set all of your connected devices to Static IP addresses in Setup/Network settings on the router." This would include the Wireless.

I realize that is a "fix" to the problem but not a solution.

Setting the wireless devices static is great while Im home. But I then have to remember to turn off the static setting on each device every time I leave the house....and back on again when I get home?

That's a bit less than an ideal situation   :o

I think you mis understand my statement. Setup static IP addresses in the router, not the devices themselves. If you set static on the router, you'll have the same address all the time and helps in troubleshooting while your at home. Set your devices for automatic so weather you are at home or away, those devices will get an address regardless of where you are at.

Oh, sorry, yeah I misunderstood him.

Setting reserved IPs by MAC (as most of the wireless device already were) is the same as being fully dynamic.

The only way is for each device to be set HARD static.  :(
