Wireless Restarts
« on: October 28, 2008, 06:48:00 PM »

I have been noticing in the last day that my wireless links are going up and down, restarting, and disconnecting computers on my wlan.

It is affecting the usability of my wireless lan and I need to know how I can fix it or stop it. Is this a router fault that has just cropped up, or is this a firmware issue perhaps?

Any information you need from me I would be happy to provide.

Here's a sample of what I'm talking about... note that it is at 2 pm when I'm not even home:

When I was using my DIR-855 I had exactly the same problems (and too others...).

Like others issues no solution : I came back to my previous router...

Any mods or tech support personnel want to chime in?

I've sent an e-mail to tech support but haven't received a response.

I can cause that and I can stop it, but I want it fixed, I know why it happens, and I'm not getting paid to fix or beta it.

I've posted why it happens, This is the kind of stuff, that good company's avoid and this is the kind of stuff that company's on their last leg, look the other way at.

Hey, maybe the tech support people overseas have the answer, their the only people that you can talk to about it.

When you started to experience this issue, did you change anything on the router? Settings/firmware perhaps? Or what about on your computer; Anything updated/installed?

I see unfaltering reply's get edited out in these forums.

Why do you ask these questions? When you don't help support the product or fixes?

Russ,

Thank you for the reply.

I have changed nothing. Today the router just crashed on the wireless multiple times.

I have two different PCs (One Dell Inspiron with Vista, and one MacBook with 10.5.5) and BOTH crashed today on the WLAN. I have a gateway log and I'll post it below. I cannot fathom why the router would just automatically take the wireless up and down on its own. Is it possible that the radios are failing due to the "high" transmit being turned on? I mean, it's the default and I left it there, but is it possible?

I have removed any logs with MAC addresses and IP reconnects in them, but suffice to say that all the spaces in the sample of the log have those reconnects in them. As you can see... this radio is UNUSABLE because it crashes like this every day at least 10 times that I've noticed. PLEASE HELP.

No, I do not have any 2.4 GHz phones. I do have multiple 2.4GHz Wi-Fi devices, however.

Two iPhones (one 3G, one Edge) and a wireless web cam.

how and where do you configure the antenna on the router?  Do you mean the signal strength setting?
