wireless client cannot obtain IP from Win2003 DHCP
« on: January 26, 2011, 05:18:42 PM »

Hi.. something really weird.  I disabled the DIR330 DHCP server.  I have a Win2003 Server running DHCP.

All of my wired computer are able to obtain an IP via the DHCP on my Win2003Server DHCP (I can confirm that).

However, any computer connecting via wireless (using the DIR330 wireless of course) are not able to obtain ip address via the Windows2003 Server DHCP.   These clients after a successful wireless connection.. obtained a very weird IP address.. the IP these wireless client receive is within the range of the DIR330 DHCP server (which is disabled).

Without changing anything else.. if I just turn off the W2k3 server DHCP and ENABLE the DIR330 DHCP.. both (wired and wireless) clients received an IP address falling within the DIR330 DHCP range.

So bottomline.. somehow the wireless client are not ale to obtain any IP address from DHCP server outside of the DIR330.

This is the setup:

DIR330 - 192.168.0.1
Windows2003Server - 192.168.0.5

DHCP (DIR330) - 192.168.0.150 - 192.168.0.199
DHCP (Server) - 192.168.0.100 - 192.168.0.149

I ensured only 1 DHCP is enabled at any one time.

thanks
Wilson
