Possible New Firmware Link - Updated?
« on: December 03, 2010, 03:41:58 AM »

Hi, there

I live in the UK and have just bought the DIR-825/B, which arrived with EU2.01 firmware.

When I checked the D-Link UK support pages, it listed it as the latest firmware - dated July 2009.
As The North America received an update in early 2010 (2.03NA), I wrote D-Link to ask if they planned any EU updates.

I received a response back this morning, which suggested I try the following link:

ftp://dlinktemp:dlinktemp@194.117.170.198/Router/DIR-825/beta/DIR825B1_FW204EUB02.bin

I am waiting for several other bits 'n bobs to be delivered to finish setting up my home office network, so am not planning on testing this yet.
It appears there are various problems, so I thought I'd post this in case it may be of benefit.
Unfortunately, there don't appear to be any release notes.

19/12/2010 - Update

Well, I took the plunge and tried the update from the link I received.
My router didn't explode, refuse to work or try and take over the planet, so it all seemed ok.
Didn't notice anything different in setup, but didn't go over it with a fine toothcomb.
I happily trundled along for a few weeks, then started to get constant random dropouts.
I checked my modem (Vigor 120) and all seemed fine.
I turned off QoS, turned off torrents, rebooted, rest to factory default, etc. - no joy.
I removed the DIR-825 and ran my ISP's router for a day - without issue. Hmm...

So, I revisited the forums and looked up the ftp link for the UK - couldn't connect, just showed blank pages.
I tried the ftp link I had originally received (posted above) and there are now 2 more firmware links.
If you go up to a higher level directory, there are 3 folders - beta, old and voip.

In voip - (DIR825B1_FW201EUB17Beta02.bin + release notes)
In old - (DIR825B1_FW201EUB16Beta01.bin) + (DIR825B1_FW201EUB17Beta02-ipv6.rar + release notes in archive)
In beta - (DIR825B1_FW202EUB04.zip) + (DIR825B1_FW204EUB02.bin) + (DIR825B1_FW205WWB01Beta01.bin)

Think I'm gonna try me some o' that FW205...
