help needed for Vlan configuration
« on: October 01, 2010, 12:57:41 AM »

Hi everybody ,
I am having some trouble configuring a dlink 3100 48 port manageable switch for VLAN setup.

On the switch , port 1 is connected to a cisco 1721 router's internal interface having ip 192.168.5.1

i have 10 desktops connected  on port numbers   11 - 20 , need to be put in VLAN1
and 10 desktops connected omn port numbers    21-30   , need to be put in VLAN2

Now the requirement is that i want VLAN1 and VLAN2 to have internet access , but i dont want them to communicate with each other.

i read some posts on the forums and did the following settings.

I enabled asymmetric VLan.   then put port numbers  1,11-20 in vlan1 all untagged  and     port numbers  1,21-30 in vlan2  all untagged , but it doesnt seem to work.. any help would be very much appreciated , Thanks a lot
