Fan starts when HDD's switch in hibernate mode
« on: May 31, 2010, 11:48:35 PM »

Hello,

three days ago I got my DNS 323 (FW 1.07,I installed 2x HDD's 1,5 TB, RAID 1). Until yesterday morning everything runs well (HDD hibernate, fan stopped).
Then I copied about 200 GB via ftp to DNS323. When I came back the 2 HDD's where in standby but the fan runs at low speed. So I reboot the DNS323 and the fan didn't run when HDD's were active. At the moment when the HDD's switch in hibernate mode the fan starts again and don't stop anymore? Why ? Two days ago everything worked fine (I didn't change configuration). Now I tried FW 1.09Beta => same issue

Please help me

Which hardware revision do you have? It's printed on the label where the serial number is. I think C1 revision has a fan issue.

Yes you are right my HW/Rev is C1.
I just found this thread http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=11417.msg76287#msg76287 => so I know that d-Link work on it

Today i will install the repository from http://wolf-u.li. Uli wrote a skript (here: http://wolf-u.li/3403/lueftersteuerung-fuer-das-d-link-dns-323-hardwarerevision-c1/which solves the problem with C1 revision (ffp needed)

Thank you for your answer
