DWA-552 worth buying or should I go 556 or 160 USB?
« on: March 05, 2010, 05:44:15 PM »

Looking to go wireless on my Desktop, its XP service pac 2, Im running a 655 router as well. My question is it worth buying a 552 desktop adaptor or better to use a 556 or should I just go with the 160 USB? I would hate to buy the 552 or any of these if all Im gonna have is problems. I have read alot in the 552 and 556 product forums but I see people seem to have alot of problems, or so it seems. Just want to go the best route the first time if possible. Any input Id greatly appreciate.

I've got a DWA-552 on my backup XP box connecting with my DIR-655. 1 floor up and I get an excellent signal. I'm using a ANT24-0230 Xtreme N 2.4GHz Antenna that sits on top of my case though instead of the stock antennas. I don't install the D-Link wireless management utility, I just install the drivers manually and let windows manage my wireless networks.
