from my boxee, i can access the files on the dns just fine.  the drive is mapped to the computer and i can see the files just fine on the nas.

i think i am missing some simple permission either on the dns 323 or on windows 7.  i hope the hitachi guy is right that the files/drive is not corrupted if i can still write and read from the drive.

any thoughts would be appreciated!

ran the error-checking tool in windows and it says i have no problems on the disk...is that a reliable test?

Sounds to me you need to visit some Microsoft sites. If you cannot transfer files from one folder to another on your PC, then this has nothing to do with DLink and/or the NAS.

If you reinstalled on top of a previous install, then of course you are going to have issues with permissions. The SIDS are all different. Again, a Microsoft issue.

i would understand your reasoning but for one reason:

1. i created new files to the internal hard drive, then tried to transfer to the dns 323-same error message

i understand that the old files don't transfer with the permission issue, but why would the new files created not transfer?

The permissions are based on the user account and are not linked to particular files.

how would you gain access to this hard drive?  i've allowed all users full access, yet still can't transfer.

The permissions in question refer to the Microsoft environment, not the NAS. The NAS may be configured for full access, but if a policy was inadvertently created on your MS environment preventing Windows account holders from write access, then that's a Microsoft issue and is unrelated to the NAS.
