DCS-2360 - Chrome 79
« on: November 30, 2019, 04:39:34 PM »

Hello,
I have DCS-2630 and use a Mac that is now running on Macbook Pro MacOs Mojave 10.14.6 (18G103) to access the camera and its video recordings.
I received the following message when signing into MyDlink :
''Limited Portal Support on Chrome 79
Chrome 79, scheduled to be released on Dec 10, will remove Native Client which is essential for mydlink portal to support D-Link products manufactured before 2018. As a result, mydlink portal will not be able to support Chrome 79 for D-Link products such as DCS-932L, DCS-2530L and DIR-890L. For these products, please use IE11 on computers running Windows, or Firefox 52 ESR on computers running Windows or MacOS. We apologize for the inconvenience. Please get more information here.
How to download and install Firefox ESR52?
Please go to Firefox webpage, select your language then download the Firefox ESR 52 install package.

Windows: https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/52.9.0esr/win32/

Mac OS: https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/52.9.0esr/mac/

After downloading file, please unplug your Ethernet cable or disable Wi-Fi network connection before the installation to prevent Firefox auto-update to latest version. After disable auto-update, you may plug the Ethernet cable or enable Wi-Fi network to access Internet.

How to disable auto-update on Firefox browser:
From Firefox Menus:

Step 1: Open Firefox, click “Menu” button in the upper-right corner, then choose “Options”.

Step 2: Select “General” on the left pane then scroll down to find the “Firefox Updates” section.

Step 3: Select “Never check for updates”

From about:config Menu

Step 1: Type “about:config” in the address bar, then press “Enter”.

Step 2: Search for the “app.update.auto” setting.

Step 3: Double-click the “app.update.auto” option to toggle the setting and set to “false”, to disable automatic updates.''

I downloaded Firefox 52 ESR and followed the instructions below and disabled auto-update on the Firefox browser. When I tried to sign in to MyDlink, the system sent me a message about downloading a plug-in:  http://d2okd4tdjucp2n.cloudfront.net/uplayer/Uplayer-1.0.2.7.dmg . I have tried several times to install the Plugin and received the 'Plugin Install Failed'' messagel.

I went to https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/disabled-add-on-fix-52-56/ to disable Add-on Fix for Firefox 47 - 56 . I downloaded the add-on.  It did not work. I still got a '' Plugin Install Failed'' message.

I tried logging onto MyDlink using Safari and Explorer 10 for Mac (https://setapp.com/how-to/use-internet-explorer-for-mac) and tried to install the Plugin and still got the ''Plugin Install Failed'' message.
I tried using the debugging feature on Firefox to debug the Uplayer-1.0.2.7(7).dmg. Nothing happens.

Last time I had a problem with getting access to my DCS-2360L I downgraded my Mac to Mavericks. This fixed the problem. However, I continued to use Chrome which seems to be the only browser that accepts the http://d2okd4tdjucp2n.cloudfront.net/uplayer/Uplayer-1.0.2.7.dmg. Resorting to Mavericks once again will likely not help if the only Chrome version available will be Chrome 79.

Grateful for any suggestions on how to install http://d2okd4tdjucp2n.cloudfront.net/uplayer/Uplayer-1.0.2.7.dmg on Firefox, Safari or any other browser in order to get access to my DCS-2360L.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Thank you for all your detailed steps and information.

Yes, there is known issues with latest versions of Chrome and FireFox. Those Mfrs have stopped natively supporting 3rd party plug-ins. So reverting back to last known working versions of FF is recommended.

I found instructions at https://stackoverflow.com/questions/18483087/how-to-disable-google-chrome-auto-update   on how to keep Chrome 78 by disabling Chrome updates on my Mac:

This is just a trick to stop auto update of Google Chrome in Mac OS.

Go to Applications Folder in Finder.
Right click Google Chrome and select Show Package Contents.
Go to Contents directory.
Open Info.plist file with XCode or other text editor.
Change the value of the key: KSUpdateURL to an invalid URL. something like https://tools.google.com/service/invalidurl
Overwrite Info.plist file.
Restart Google Chrome.
Finally go to Google Chrome Settings / About. You will see Update always fails because the update url was set to an invalid one.

This approach looks promising.
