DNS-323 won't send alert emails

I realized that I was not getting any emails from my DNS-323, which of course became a problem when my RAID was degraded. The RAID is rebuilt now, but I'm trying to figure out why it won't send emails. I've tried updating the Email Alert settings a dozen times. I've tried different SMTP accounts (Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo). I save the settings, I click "Test Email," it spins for a few seconds and then says Test result: Failure.
ANY IDEAS? Thank you.
