Hi there,

I am looking to install a NAS for a small video editing company. We are hoping to buy the Qnap TS-453A https://www.qnap.com/en/product/model.php?II=212 and use the D-Link DGS-1016D 16-Port Gigabit Unmanaged Desktop/Rackmount Switch for connecting all the workstations.

I need to know if the DGS-1016D switch supports port trunking with our specific Qnap nas, I found a guide here: https://www.qnap.com/en/tutorial/con_show.php?op=showone&cid=216 and it states that the switch must support IEEE 802.3ad with LACP mode properly configured. I believe it does support IEEE 802.3ad, but what does it mean that LACP mode must be properly configured?

As you can see I am some what inexperienced with this stuff, if I could just get confirmation that the units are compatible, that port trunking will work and what it means that LACP needs to be properly configured.

This is a "unmanagaged" switch so I presume this model doesn't have any sort of UI to do any management on the unit. Just plug and play and everything else is automatic.

You might phone contact D-Link support on the phone and ask them what "managed" switch models they have that would work for your specific product needs.
