Can't use gmail to send motion alerts with a snapshot
« on: January 04, 2016, 07:04:06 AM »

I am all set, it works using my AOL email. I wonder if there would be a remedy if the only choice was gmail. When testing the email alert the status shows invalid username/password, I knew I entered it correctly. I then got the message below from Google:
Someone just tried to sign in to your Google Account xxx@gmail.com from an app that doesn't meet modern security standards.

We strongly recommend that you use a secure app, like Gmail, to access your account. All apps made by Google meet these security standards. Using a less secure app, on the other hand, could leave your account vulnerable. Learn more.

Google stopped this sign-in attempt, but you should review your recently used devices:

When reviewing I didn't see anything specific for the DCS-5020. Not an issue since AOL permitted the login - just wondering how or if one could go about to authorize the device to log into a gmail account.
