Terrible dir-855
« on: April 18, 2009, 05:22:26 AM »

Since last October, we dir-855 buyers, expect a decent firmware for our product at the time, define a bin is a euphemism.
Personally, I request a little more attention to us by the d-link, to us that we have spent almost 200 euros to buy a product that when I am forced to keep canned, given the poor quality of the wireless signal and that of several bugs will affect usage.
Let me know please, what kind of policy support and maintenance plan to follow d-link for our product to protect our purchase.
Thank you

I do agree on the terrible speeds...

I splashed 150+ on this router to replace my DIR-655 with the hope that I would get better transfer speeds on the 5GHz since the 2.4GHz in my area is crowded with other wireless users on the same band...

What a waste of 150+...  :(

Im in the US, and our overseas experience is nearly as frustrating.
From a professional perspective, I think this issue/product needs executive escalation.

Unfortunately, most the the DIR router product lines appear to be geared for the Small Office / Home Office enterprise grades and not the corporate grade.

Let me clarify, sorry:  Professional meaning expert or skilled.  This device is not for the average consumer.  It's more Pro-sumer, and from that perspective it should have been tested to see if it works beyond default settings.  Also, why make a router that is so configurable when configuring it makes it unstable/un-usable.

If you where to check the "included" CD, you will locate the so called "wizard" set up software to help most "consumers" to install routers.   It has always been this way.  Those who do not use the CD, consumers need to be fairly "computer savvy" to complete the manual set ups of routers.

Yes, but you change it through the cd and it fails to perform appropriately.
