SharePort v1.10
« on: April 16, 2009, 09:19:37 AM »

So, I installed the latest SharePort (after uninstalling the previous version) yesterday, only to find out that it isn't working.

I've installed it on both Vista and XP, without succes. Funny thing is, I don't have the installer for the previous version anymore.

Has anyone else tried the latest version yet?

Shareport 1.10 only works with 1.30FW which by the way is not downgradable. Please read the notes before downloading if you choose to upgrade the FW.

Shouldn't that be stated somewhere on the download page then? Since I have the latest downloadable firmware version (which is on the same download page), I'd say it's common sence to assume they support eachother.

I would also suggest putting back the version that does work with 1.21 on the downloade page.

How about mentioning that ** somewhere ** with the Shareport download?

Yeah well it still doesn't work. Old one works, but 1.10 just doesn't. It can find my printer fine (Canon MP500) but whenever i try to print it says that the printer is offline. It also can't stay connected to the printer for more than 10 sec before it goes back to "Available" status. Sometimes it doesn't even say "You are connected" it just goes directly back to "Available".

Also if i activate "Connect automatically only for printing" and click Configure it seaches for drivers forever until i hit cancel. My drivers are clearly installed because the printer works if i connect it directly to a usb port.

Using 1.30 beta.

Try to uninstall and reinstall the software. And make sure your firewall is turned off.

I have the same problem on my Mac.  Only it takes a couple seconds before going back to "Available", not 10.

I have my firewall disabled (can't see the printer with it on).

My hardware is A2, if that matters.

Perhaps your printer is entering sleep mode because it has nothing to queue?

I tried to reinstall but no juice. I have also tried on two different computers (Vista 64bit and Windows 7 beta 32bit) and both systems show the exact same behavior. The only firewall i have is the windows one and shareport is added as an exception there.

No, i checked that. My printer is pumped up and ready to go. Print jobs gets added when i try to print and that still doesnt make a difference. Also tried to first add a print job first and THEN try to connect from shareport but that doesn't work either.

Tried reinstalling the printer driver?
Well I've tried on two different systems with different OSes and neither of them work with shareport, but both works via usb directly and with the old shareport (0.94 i think) so i doubt its a driver issue.

avsfan77, the time varies for me too so we definitely have the same problem. Sometimes it's more and sometimes it's less that 10 sec. Usually it goes right back to available though.

I was having the same problems and rebooted the router from tools/system settings. Shareport seems to be working fine now on my computers.

Rebooting is the magic cure for computers , routers and people.  ;)

Well whaddayaknow, it worked! I had tried before to reboot by removing the power cord which didnt help, but rebooting from the router interface did the trick. Even auto-connect for printing now works. Thanks, Iman!
