So here ia a cautionary tale.... I just upgraded my router to the beta 1.30 firmware and now I can't use my PSP online because I just read they removed 802.11b!!! So that'll teach me to update before reading completely. I just hope that they will put back 802.11b support or at least the ability to downgrade from the final 1.30 version. Seriously why would they remove 802.11b when there are still b devices out there? Lesson learned oh and.....

If you own a PSP stay away from this firmware update!!!

Just read the posts on the forum and you will have your answers.

About b devices: They will be there for another 20 years. But you got to admit it's almost ancient technology. Horse and carriage will get you from A to B also, but I don't see them around anymore on highways...

On which HW versions does this update work?
Seems that different hardware work or not with the latest upgrades.

I never used the 11b/g mode on the DIR-655 because I have the old Linksys WRT54G and flashed with Tomato FW 1.23.
With this FW I can use the WRT54G as an AP so at low cost and always have the b/g mode.

So if you have A WRT54G or ohter supported router then you can get the 11b/g mode back.

I have 1.22B on the DIR-655 but I'm afraid of using 1.30 because if the ssl-ftp doesn't work (also in 1.21) - 1.20??)
then it is not testing beta but is is only FINAL!

Now that they listed it as Beta does that mean I can slip into "that's what you get for using beta software" mode?  :-)

No, for real -- I've learned my lesson many moons ago by not reading before doing.  As with many things you do in life, understand what you're doing before you actually do it.  An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

A wise lesson. And very true.

Backing up to he beginning of this thread, somebody ask for the meaning of: "5. Remove the 3G from GUI"

Does it mean that dlink also removed the support of 3G USB modems from this firmware?

Thx!

We are aware of the situation as a whole. I would like to say that we are working to correct it as quickly as possible, and to my knowledge there is a firmware with all the fixes in the works that adds B support back to the product.

I understand your frustration and ask that you please be pateint as  we come up with a plan to correct this.

Thank you.

I'm going to Lock the thread. If you have further issues, please PM me.
