Hi, we have 1 DAP2553 set up in our network in our office. We have recently been experiencing continuous drops of our internet connection. Our ADSL-modem-router (Thomson) was continously rebooting it appeared. After weeks from checking and repair-guys from the telephonecompany it turned out it was nog the telephoneline that was bad, but an internal device was giving bad signals through the network. We finaly traced it down to the DAP2553. After the accesspoint was disconnected the connection stayed up for three days, without loosing connection once (situation before was 10 times in one hour). Of course it could be a mobile decive connected through the accesspoint, but we have filtered that out as well. After disabling all mobile devices that could connect we have powered on the D-Link again. Within the hour the internet connection dropped twice. Removed the power cable and no internet problems the rest of the day. Next day I have reset the DAP2553 back to factory setting with a hard-reset. Uploaded new firmware 1.20 -> 1.21. and entered all new setting for the device (other SSID to be safe). That seemed to work, since we had stable internet for 2 days. But this morning internet failed again twice in a row. One difference: 3 mobile phone are connected through the accesspoint since yesterday, one of them (mine) had been already connected since the reset and update.
What could be the problem here? I have activated the accespoint with WPA2 security, 2,4Ghz band, MAC-filtering, fixed IP, no DHCP, visible SSID

What happens if you let the DAP acquire an IP address from the host router?
Is the DAP wired or wireless connected to the host router?
If it's wired connected try swapping out the LAN cable between the host router and DAP?
What region are you located?
What wireless modes are you using?
Try single mode G or N or mixed G and N?

When I let the DAP acquire an IP address from the host router it makes no difference, this was the way it had been set up at first. But since I do not know the DAP's IP this way, I have chosen to use a fixed IP for this setup, so I can easily access the web interface for diagnostic and setup purposes.

The host router WiFi has been disabled. We have no use for this ability since the router is setup one floor up on the other side of the building: the DAP has a wired connecting through a Cisco Catalyst 2960 24-port switch. The wires between the switch and the DAP are part of the buildings infrastructure, but I could hook it up to a different outlet, thus different wire.

The region is Nijmegen, The Netherlands, Europe.

Wireless modes is set on mixed.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: in the mean time we have been checking and elimination as well. We have been trying to connect certain wireless devices to the network through the DAP and something odd has come up. We have been trying mobile phones (smartphones) at first. My own telephone (Samsung Galaxy S3) seems to cause no troubles. With that phone connected for a whole day, internet connection does not fail once (the router does not reboot). I have been trying both 5Ghz and 2.4 Ghz. bands, both worked okay. One colleague also wanted to connect his Apple Iphone 3G (S?) to the network. I told him he could but this phone could not find the 5Ghz network, so I have switched back to 2.4Ghz again. The iPhone connected and within 5 minutes the connection interupted. I have set the newtwork back to 5Ghz (so the iPhone could no longer connect) and changed the network settings again. This morning I switched back to 2.4 with only my phone connected. Not a problem. This afternoon I let my colleague connect his phone again and disconnected my Samsung. Within 5 minutes the router started to reboot! After I had the iPhone disconnected again and let another colleague connect his phone, a Samsung Galaxy S(1). So for no problems.

The colleague with the iPhone has had this phone for a while now and has always connected before...

Also the connection had dropped before, also on times he was not present... But another colleague who has also an iPhone (4s) was(!) This colleague is on holiday now so I am unable to verify this at this moment. Could there be a problem with Apple? And why is this only a problem for the last month or so?

What bandwidth is the DAP set for? auto 20/40Mhz? I have seen some issues with Iphones running auto 20/40. Can this DAP use 20Mhz Only? Of so test it out again at 2.4Ghz and 20Mhz only and see. This might be an issue between the DAP and iPhone. I know my 4S works for me on several DIR series routers using Auto 20/40Mhz however I use Mixed G and N or Single mode N on my routers. I know these are not DAP devices so there is some differences between DAP and DIR routers.

If this doesn't seem to help then I would contact DLink and tell them what you have done for troubleshooting and maybe even contact Apple and ask.

If it works with only your phone or on 5Ghz, I might see about getting a different DAP and for 2.4Ghz and running it as a 2.4Ghz only AP while this one runs only 5Ghz.
