Author Topic: Should I change WAN DSL setting to ADSL2+??? Model DSL-2750B  (Read 6203 times)

I understand that the best flavor of DSL is ADSL2+    Ideally I should be getting that rather than an earlier flavor, like G.dmt. Correct?

In my new D-Link modem, model DSL-2750B, under
System-Network Connections-WAN DSL-Settings
there is an option to change DSL Line Mode from
Auto mode (G.dmt, G.lite or T1.413) (where it is now)
to
ADSL2Plus
Question - should I change it to "ADSL2Plus"?

But does a WAN DSL setting make any difference to my DSL connection to my ISP?  Please note this is NOT in the settings for "WAN PPPoE" or "WAN ETHoA", which have their own, separate tabs.

A recent HSI Field Test seems to show I am already on some type of ADSL.  Various lines of the test results say
Service Type  is ADSL Unknown ()
LT Card Type is ADSL (ADSL2-AA)
NYCMNY73-0221308A 1-1-1-28 Operation Mode is ADSL2+

Therefore, does this WAN DSL setting in the modem affect the type of DSL that my ISP is sending me or how well I use it?  What do you think?

If I go ahead and try to change this setting to ADSL2Plus, the modem page then shows me a follow-up question -- to select an "AnnexM Mode", whatever that is. My choices are
Enabled
AnnexM Only
Disabled

What is this, and what is the right choice?

Please feel free to write a lot of detail here.

Thanks.

Your ISP would be best to get this information from I presume.

Made the changes but they don't seem to make a difference.

I presume the modem will and should automatically detect what mode is best to use between it and the ISP.
