If you are using IE try Firefox, if you are using Firefox try IE.

I also can't say enough good about Chrome or Opera.

In fact I use Chrome almost exclusively in Windows.

Let's go back to some basic troubleshooting.

Can you get to the router's setup page?

Network adapter/ controller same thing.  Try disabling the realtek one if you are only connecting with the wirless Dlink.

ok, i disabled the realtek, but still no  luck.  I just don't understand why this is soo ridiculous.  I mean, i have never had trouble like this in the 7 years i was involved with networking home computers.

Go into the Network and Sharing Center.
Try the Diagnose and Repair link on the left.

Then we will go further if that doesn't fix anything.

OK, now try this back in te Network an Sharing Center, where you see you Network Connection select the View Status links.  When the next window opens select the Properties button.  Look to see that all the boxes are checked.  Also while there go to the IP Version 4 and 6 check their properties to make sure everything is set for automatic.
