No joke, emoticons don't come cheap. The going rate for smileys alone is $0.02 per instance. That can add up real fast. :) :) :) :) :)

It would be nice to REALLY get a FULL 4TB after formatting.  ::)

Wow. . . Seagate announced the release of a 4TB HDD: Seagate Raises HDD Capacity Bar

The HDD is only available in an external enclosure. I'm curious if the (alleged?) capacity and addressing add additional complexities and dependencies preventing mounting as an internal HDD in an AFD supported NAS or PC. I can't find any mention of a bare bones HDD on their website.

Ya soon as I saw it I figured, RAID?  ::) My first 2TB USB drive was 2 1's RAIDED. Works for backup.

The article reads as a true 4TB HDD, but there's no mention of platter density or anything of that nature, which leaves me questioning what this "device" truly is.

Here's our answer (kind of?):

"Seagate Technology has introduced the world's first hard disk drive (HDD) with 4TB capacity. The new FreeAgent GoFlex Desk drive, which is available directly from the company, is based on a 3.5" HDD with four 1TB platters.

"Seagate's latest 3.5" platters have areal density of 625Gb/s per square inch, which means that the company can fit 1TB of data onto just one platter and thus make relatively inexpensive 2TB and 3TB hard drives as well as to create HDDs with 4TB and eventually 5TB capacities, if needed for competitive reasons."

I'm very conservative with my data.  :P

What do you call it when a cable modem has to take time to synchronize or whatever with the ISP?

OK, handshake!  I guess that's what I'm looking for.  LOL

I did an online provision through Charter on this new-to-me SB6120 but wireless download speeds aren't very good.  I'm getting about 3-5mbps when I usually get 12-20mbps.

Is there a restart sequence?  I have the modem connected to my Ooma Telo which then goes into my DGL-4500.  With my old Ubee modem, I get speeds where they needed to be.  I wonder if I should call Charter?

You don't want to go Modem>Ooma>Router. Then your bottlenecking your entire network at the whim of what ever traffic managment Ooma decides to make. You want to go Modem>Router>Ooma.

Ahhh, ok, thanks Harry.

Speed seems much better this morning, I think there was just a lot of traffic congestion.

EDIT: UPDATE:  Harry, you effing ROCK, brother!  That was my speed issue!  Odd that it didn't do that with that Ubee modem.  All is good in the world.
