I setup the 932L to monitor my dock outside my home - so it's pointing out a window. During daylight, the camera image is completely washed out and all I can see is a flat white/gray image with no detail. Is there any exposure control on the camera?

The only image controls available are brightness, contrast, and saturation. These controls are accessible through the web interface under SETUP -> Image Setup.

Sorry for the delay in responding. I tried adjusting the brightness, contrast and saturation and was unable to get a usable image. I guess this camera was never intended for use with outdoor scenes.

Are you getting a wash-out image from the window itself (i.e. light reflecting and scattering) or because it's too bright outside? Did you try changing the camera angle; shielding the camera from some of the reflective light; backing the camera away from the window?

I've been getting beautifully colored scenes in daylight with the DCS-932L (and the DCS-930L, when the latter works). Both devices give the same nice daytime picture, sitting side-by-side, looking through an old single-pane window. I wonder if you have the day/night set properly, or if the glass is a modern coated glass which might have different optical properties than my 40-year old glass?

But how would we use the [img} ... [/img] brackets to embed a jpg file or screenshot ? Seems it needs to be a URL?

Correct. The image is an external reference. You need to host the image elsewhere and insert a link to the URL. There are a number of free sites available to post images for short-term use (e.g. http://www.imageshack.us/).

I'm aware that this is an old topic, but I had the same wash-out issue.  I found that my problem was due to the "Anti-Flicker" setting being enabled and once I disabled that setting I regained image clarity.  Hope this helps.

Thanks knightconn for entering your post even though the forum topic was old.

I encountered a washed-out image as well and the Anti Flicker setting was the culprit. D-Link support could not solve the problem but thankfully you had posted the solution. Thanks again.

I know this topic is old but I thought I would add a newer reply saying the Anti Flicker setting was causing wash out/over exposure on the DCS-2330L model as well.
