Rebuild your own firmware with the new PHP & MySQL
To replace php-cgi in the current firmware no problem. But MySQL is much more complicated.

I've already downloaded the dns340L_GPL firmware source and used fedora 15 to compile as advice by d'link tech staff and they don't teach me how to compile it. I do not know how to compile firmware as I'm new to all this. I tried untar the GPL source and successfully manage to compile the firmware without changing any file or configuration.
Could you please show me how to compile the firmware with latest MySql, Php and phpMyAdmin?
There are many file included in the GPL source. Do I just replace the MySql, Php and phpMyAdmin tgz file and compile?
Are there any configuration to set?

The proposal to create your own firmware - it was a joke. This requires knowledge and experience. Universal instructions for cross-compiling does not exist. I'm doing this for about 3 years and I am confident that my knowledge is not perfect. It is impossible to 5 minutes to become an expert

vtverdohleb thank you for your reply. Didn't know it was a joke as I'm desperate to replace the old software since I've already bought this DNS-340L. If I knew they  had not updated their software, i would not have bought this unit. Now I just have to make the best out of it.

This network storage, in my opinion, the best in its price category. To software have questions, but for this reason I do addons.
But I do only popular. Specific - only if it is very interesting to me or me something to interested consumers. MySQL 5.5 and higher, I think for the average user will not be interesting.
