Posted a message a couple of hours ago about receiving a new unit on 6-29-09 and caput on 6-30 and told
by tech support to send it  back to Amazon.  E-mail to D-Link and they responded that the do not replace
defective units and to send it back to seller or to them for repair.  RMA is the correct response for creditable
companies in support of their products.  My former message is no longer seen in this forum.  D-Link sucks.

The first line for returns is always the original seller, if you have an issue with the seller then you can then try the manufacturer with an explanation of why the seller won't help you out.

Yep. The manufacturer is never the direct party to contact in case of RMA during the normal guarantee period. Whatever brand or device you buy, you need to contact the reseller/retailer and let them handle the RMA procedure.

So I really don't know why you complain about Dlink.

Interesting comments as IBM, ATI both sent me a RMA for items under warranty and not bought directly
from them.

Yes most manufacturers will do this, and do it happily.  But the seller should be the first party contacted to fix any problems.  This can be a help to a seller, if they get a bunch of returns of a specific item they can check their stock for similar manufacturing dates and pull that stock to keep from shipping out potentially bad product.

From what I have read you need to contact D-Link and if they deem your product to be defective (after troubleshooting with them) they will give you a case ID so you can RMA your product.

Didn't make it clear that tech support worked with me for half an hour and then said to send it back to
Amazon.  Asked for a RMA and he declined but gave me a case number.  D-Link told me by e-mail that they
wouldn't replace the unit but that I could send it to them at my expense for repair- no RMA.  Amazon
sent me to their return site where a label could be printed out for no cost return and they will send me a new unit.  The reviews have been good for this unit so hope the next one will work out for us.

If they gave you a case id you can use that to RMA the unit.

The e-mail to D-Link included the case number and their reply was as  stated that I could send the unit at my expense to them for repair or replacement, probably a refurbished unit.  Amazon responded in a very fair
way.  Now awaiting the new unit.
