Going Back to the old Firmware 1.21
« on: July 13, 2009, 06:38:54 AM »

I would like to request a back - rev package to the older firmware.

I've been having nothing but issues since I upgraded to 1.31NA

Is there anyway to go back to the 1.21?

I have had to put in my old wrt54g ver 2.2 back to get everything working like it should.

Regards,

EW

The official word is that you can't, its impossible due to a change in the SDK that d-link uses to create the firmware.

Whether that's actually true or D-link doesn't want to go back, I don't think anyone knows but D-link.

It would be awesome if D-link could use the new SDK to release 1.11 or something.

I think the best way is to sell it on Craigslist then go buy a new one.  You'd probably be out only $40-$50 that way. People jump on N routers on classified ad sites and most people don't know about the firmware issues.

I say go buy a new one, because my friend just bought a new A4 last week and it came with 1.21. I advised him to never update it, even suggested going down to 1.11.

The problem with that is that the A4s can't use 1.11.

I did almost the same thing, I bought a dir-825 instead and have yet to update its firmware to 1.11(which seems to have the same problems as 1.31 on the 655).

Oh ya, I forgot about the A4/1.11 thing (I have an A3)...  I'll let him know.

I like your idea of upgrading too, costs a bit more, but you've gotta love new hardware!

Take a look at my post here http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=5716.msg38899#msg38899 on reverting back on a DIR615.

I'll give Dlink the benefit of the doubt and "hope" they come out with another Rev that fixes the issues.

Funny thing is I would have never updated it If I new about this Forum....

The number of posts on the 655 forum compared to the other models was a dead giveaway there are issues with this firmware.

I will use my old reliable wrt54g in the mean time.
