Video storage max limits?

Configured my DCS-5020L to send motion-activated video to a 32gb USB flash drive attached to my router, after setting the drive up as an FTP site.  Works fine, but I now have numerous 10-15 second .avi files to go through to review one night of activity.  Why a 15 second max limit on video, and the max limit on file size?  Just wondering why I cannot choose to limit each video file to an hour, for example, if I know I have the storage capacity to handle it.

There isn't enough onboard memory to do that.

You need to look at other camera models which record to SD cards or even a NAS set up. 5222l is one.
2230 is another. 720 30 for will get you about 28 hours at 24x7 on 32gb card.

That makes sense.  I guess I thought it would record directly to the FTP site, similar to how the D-View cam software records directly to my computer.  I wonder if that option could be provided in a firmware update?

When I bought the camera, I didn't consider that I'd have to keep my computer running all the time to record a constant stream of video.

The 5010l & 5020l are stripped down models compared to other dlink cams.  No PIR detection. No SD card.  Vga.

But they do have sound detection which isn't found in other dlink cams.

The 5222l will record motion activated video files directly to SD card which can be longer than 15 seconds.  Although,  Accessing and downloading these files can be time consuming from the sd card.
